Medical Assistant - Part Time - Primary Care Sport Medicine - Encinitas

This is a benefited, part time position (48 hours every 2 weeks) working 3 days/week generally from 8am-5pm. Located at Scripps Clinic Encinitas (off Santa Fe Drive) with potential to float to other clinics as the specialty grows!

What you'll do:

This is a Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative Hybrid role where you will be responsible for both front and back office duties. Rooming patients. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Checking vitals
• Assisting with procedures
• Registration, scheduling, work queue management
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
• Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry
• Acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC
• Other duties assigned as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Front and back office experience in a healthcare environment
• Sports Medicine experience
