What You Can Expect Working in the Accounting Intern Position

The Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting with accounts receivable, accounts payable and month end close functions. This position works closely with other members of the Finance team to provide assistance and gain experience with accounting tasks including month end close, financial reporting, general audit activities, and tax preparation.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with research, filing, and data entry to maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
  • Assists in month-end closing processes, ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepares assigned reconciliations and reporting.
  • Assists with the accounts payable and receivable functions, as necessary.
  • Assists with audit and tax activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Basic understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with intermediate skills in Excel.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAGE products or related accounting software.
