Mechanical Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring Mechanical Technicians (CNC Apprentices) in Pontiac, Michigan. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to learn from some of the best machinists in the industry while developing the skills to launch a long-term career in CNC machining.

As a CNC Machine Shop Apprentice, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship in the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC mills, lathes, and other precision equipment. Working alongside senior machinists, you'll learn programming basics, blueprint reading, and quality control processes in a high-performance, fast-paced environment.

• Learn and assist in the setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and other machine tools
  
• Gain foundational knowledge in CNC programming using MasterCam
  
• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
  
• Support the production of precision components to meet engineering specifications
  
• Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning tasks
  
• Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments
  
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety standards
  
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs
  
• Document work performed and communicate progress to supervisors
  

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework in machining preferred
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing or automotive performance
  
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment
  
• Solid math skills and strong attention to detail
  
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role
  
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  

• Prior exposure to CNC machining or manufacturing environments
  
• Basic knowledge of tooling, cutting, or measurement instruments
