Position Summary:
The Specialist, DSD Excellence, will act as a member of the Sales function within the Business Unit. The primary responsibility of this role will be to influence leadership, linking and leveraging our DSD Excellence Transformation Objective to enable overall KPI achievement across the business. Transformation will be accomplished by defining, communicating, and executing against world-class standards and best practice processes that enable the growth of frontline business partners and sales leaders, and, by working in partnership with business unit leadership. Success will be defined by sales and profit growth, share growth, superior processes, and standardization of the workflow through the Business Unit and the creation of a world class sales organization through continuous improvement.
The Specialist will lead the development and training of sales leaders and frontline associates, and influencing Independent Business Partners (IBP), on DSD Excellence (DSDE) processes and procedures established by senior leadership. This position is also responsible for management and execution of all sales operations and training activities that occur within the market.
The Specialist will be knowledgeable of IBP, Route Sales Professional (RSP) and DSD business operations and will need to be engaged and transparent in the business. The Specialist will act with a sense of urgency, be forward thinking and possess effective communication skills.
The Specialist will use their leadership and sales expertise to champion stewardship of our brands in stores, deliver world-class sales and merchandising, meet clients' critical needs, and provide nutritious and delicious baked goods and snacks for all Americans. He/she leverages the leadership platform to foster the personal and professional growth of the team within a highly productive and deeply humane purpose.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the DSDE Team in the area of sales center operations and become the "go-to" person for Business Unit leadership in the transformation journey.
  • Deliver on key performance indicators for revenue, freshness, and profit in order to achieve the key objectives for the Business Unit and Submarkets.
  • Drive capability and accountability for meeting key performance targets; execute procedures and programs to increase productivity, effectiveness, and quality of work.
  • Leads, trains, and develops team members through a disciplined coaching process to maximize business opportunities and achieve sales objectives.
  • Quantifies and articulates sales information and objectives on a regular basis upward, laterally, and downward.
  • Collaborates with and supports the Zone Sales Leader in the training and development of all new and existing sales leaders on a regular basis to assist them in effectively engaging and developing the frontline.
  • Assist in the development of strategic plans to deliver to sales targets in order to grow overall business within existing accounts through the management of the order management system.
  • Provides support in the sourcing, recruiting, interviewing and selection process of IBPs.
  • Supports the recruiting efforts of Route Sales Professional staff positions with HR partnership.
  • Lead the processes that support the ZSL, OSL and MSL efforts in the overall management of product distribution: including order management, product accountability, scan-based trading, settlement, product sourcing, equipment recovery and product recovery.
  • Support DSD Excellence MSL store tour restructures and the Tour Store Growth Planning process.
  • Responsible for improving frontline engagement levels by leading and coordinating with sales leadership to engage with the frontline through execution of proven best practices for engagement.
  • Create and manage all administrative responsibilities associated with the operation of the Submarket including DSD Excellence, CFAR Project Management and Route Structure Planning.
  • Develop strategies for market expansion and route operations.
  • Responsible to continuously analyze Route Structures to improve Route Health Index (RHI).
  • Provide leadership to implement initiatives to reinvent DSD.
  • Lead new distribution models, where needed, and coordinate Letters of Understanding with Labor Management Leaders, where appropriate, to profitably reach 90% POS.
  • Assist in the achievement of sales center safety goals, delivery of safety awareness programs to eliminate workplace injuries; and lead DSDE operations to achieve the goal of zero injuries.
  • Support "Superior Quality Always" by maintaining and enforcing BBU Food Safety and internal audit standards to ensure a secure and food safe environment.
  • Perform special projects and assignments as requested by Leadership.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Support of Selling Capabilities
Responsible to coach the Market Sales Leaders to attain store-level growth plans and build customer relationships that align with planned store level growth goals.
Responsible for ensuring the Order Management process is understood and used by each level of the team to achieve the optimal order and delivery schedule.
Ensure Bimbo Bakeries USA Way to Sell process and tools are being utilized.
Retail Best Practices
  • Consistently following all the steps of store visit and the Golden Path Tour in store.
  • Utilizes DSDE Shelf Best Practice to ensure adherence to brand and store guidelines.
  • Utilizes DSDE Display Best Practices to drive optimal sales and world-class merchandising presentation.
  • Creates and acts upon secondary display opportunities within stores to meet DSDE Optimal Display Placements.
Support of World-Class Sales Centers
  • Responsible for coaching OSLs to create and maintain a world-class sales center that clearly illustrates and creates salespeople's engagement in the marketing strategies and vision of the Company's brands.
  • Ensures the development of standards for the management of all point-of-sale material needed to properly execute brand merchandising, promotional activity, holiday events, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure awareness, understanding and execution of all elements of the Product Accountability Process in all facilities, both staffed and un-staffed across BBU.
  • Ensure clear standards and definitive processes exist for the maintenance of accounts receivable, payment due balances, and SBT accounts per policy in DSDE sales centers.
  • Supports effective product recovery and donation to our communities.
  • Ensures fleet meets DSDE standards for safety, brand decaling and IBP identification.

Education and Work History:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field is preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.
  • An ideal candidate will possess:
  • 5 - 7 years' experience in marketing, customer relations or sales. DSD experience is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of experience leading and influencing others.
  • Must have strong operational acumen.
  • Demonstrated professional facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively negotiate and influence others.
  • Demonstrated process driven mindset, excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Computer skills and proficiency, specifically PowerPoint, Excel, and Word are required.
  • Proficient in BBU systems such as BUSS, PROMPT, ION, MicroStrategy and Margin Miner preferred.
  • Knowledge of Independent Business Partner contracts and sales processes, as well as an understanding of IBP relations and people skills.
  • Maintenance of valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Travel is required, 75%.
Physical Demands:
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods on a frequent basis.
  • Use a notebook computer and standard office equipment printers, fax, phone etc.
  • Able to sit, stand, stoop and have use of hand motor coordination regularly.
