Description

The Sr. EHS Specialist supports the overall delivery of Environmental, Health, and Safety at their assigned Liberty Diversified International location. This position is accountable for developing and executing EHS initiatives for their assigned location(s). This role partners with plant leadership and the LDI EHS team to support deployment of EHS initiatives, administer site incident/ injury management, coordinate emergency response, track and document KPIs at the site level, and ensure the organization's products meet required standards while minimizing risk.

This full-time position reports directly to the General Manager and is located at Liberty Packaging manufacturing plant in Haltom City, TX

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains EHS programs to be compliant with regulations and company standards while making recommendations that drive continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate general and job-specific EHS training for new hires and recurrent training, as required.
  • Partners with plant leadership and enterprise solutions partners to develop and execute environmental, health, and safety programs, standards, and training. Identifies needs by reviewing current state against business and regulatory requirements. Leads gap analysis and creates / implements programs, processes, tools, and resources to close gaps.
  • Maintains a production floor presence to assess EHS culture and recommend activities that support people leaders' safety performance.
  • Champions Behavioral Safety Program by ensuring wide participation and engagement through the organization.
  • Oversee site EHS incident and injury program management, investigative protocols, tracking, and documentation. Ensures incidents and injuries are investigated timely and according to expectations and that root cause(s) are identified. Uses Velocity system to track and document EHS incidents. Ensures site executes injury management and return-to-work protocols according to company standards.
  • Collaborates with enterprise EHS peers across to create scalable best practices; supports implementation as required.
  • Organizes and conducts emergency response team drills for incidents such as injured employees, severe weather, lockdown, and fire drills.
  • Partner with enterprise EHS to implement sustainability projects and programs within the designated location(s).
  • Communicates with EHS team to utilize and coordinate all EHS electronic platforms.
  • Contributes to creating measurable goals for safety performance and ensuring action plans are in place to execute on established goals.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial health, environmental science, manufacturing, business, and engineering or equivalent and 5+ years' experience managing environmental, health, and safety functions or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to actively participate in team development.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills particularly in managing multiple tasks and prioritization.
  • Strong experience in building relationships, training, and coaching.
  • Attention to detail and the capability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25%

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Previous EHS experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships at all levels within the organization

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting base salary range for this position is $83,232 - $104,040 per year plus eligibility in annual bonus program. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses or deferred compensation options.
