Job Description:

Arcfield's Space and Mission Engineering (SME) Sector is seeking a high-performing Senior Director of Capture to lead and drive the growth of our organization by spearheading the capture of large-scale opportunities valued at $200M+ in the defense, intelligence, and federal sectors. This individual will be responsible for overseeing full lifecycle capture management, developing winning strategies, and ensuring the successful pursuit of major business opportunities in alignment with our corporate objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Shipley capture methodologies, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a proven history of delivering results on sizeable government bids.

The Senior Director of Capture will collaborate across internal teams, develop persuasive proposals, and build relationships with customers and partners to secure long-term contracts. Success in this role requires an individual with a strategic mindset, decisive leadership, and the ability to anticipate and respond to customer needs in a highly competitive environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture Leadership: Lead the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of capture efforts for opportunities of $200M+ in value, ensuring that milestones, timelines, and goals are met.
  • Opportunity Qualification: Partner with business development and technical teams to assess opportunities, validate capture viability, and position the organization as a top contender.
  • Proposal Strategy: Apply Shipley capture and proposal development methodologies to orchestrate competitive, compelling, and compliant proposals.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute capture strategies, including win themes, teaming strategies, competitive analysis, customer engagements, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with proposal managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, pricing teams, and executives to build comprehensive and winning proposals.
  • Customer Engagement: Cultivate relationships with government clients, acquisition teams, and key stakeholders to gain insight into their needs and acquisition strategies.
  • Teaming Relationships: Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and industry partners to develop a competitive team for proposals.
  • Financial Acumen: Work with pricing teams to develop competitive pricing and capture solutions that align with customer budgets while meeting corporate financial objectives.
  • Market Knowledge: Maintain deep industry awareness, including competitive intelligence, market trends, and customer priorities in federal agencies, defense, and intelligence communities.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide thought leadership and mentoring to capture teams and business development professionals, fostering a culture of discipline and excellence in capture management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • BS 18+, MS 16+, PhD 12+
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in leading and winning large-scale government capture efforts, with a focus on opportunities exceeding $200M+.
  • Experience with Shipley Framework: Expertise in the use of Shipley or similar capture and proposal management methodologies, including development of win strategies and execution of competitive proposals.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including executives, technical teams, and customers.
  • Capture Experience: Minimum of 18 years of experience in capture/proposal management, business development, or related roles in the federal government contracting space.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth understanding of federal procurement processes, acquisition regulations (FAR/DFAR), and the intricacies of defense and intelligence contracting.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends, competitors, and customer needs to shape winning capture and proposal strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Experience managing cross-functional teams, leading virtual or geographically dispersed teams, and driving results under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep familiarity with clients and missions within the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and Military Services.
  • Established relationships with federal government stakeholders, acquisition offices, contracting officers, and other decision-makers.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
