About the Role:

Wiley is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Employment Paralegal to join the Global Employment team in our dynamic Legal Affairs and Strategic Relationships department. This position offers an opportunity to support the Global Employment Legal team, providing essential support on all aspects of employment law on a global scale. The successful candidate will have a solid background in employment law with prior in-house employment experience and global expertise desired.

How you will make an impact:

Global Employment Law Support

  • Assist with the preparation and management of employment-related legal matters, including cross-border employment issues, employee relations support, wage and hour and pay equity audits, investigations, and litigation prevention measures.
  • Advise and partner with the People Organization and business leaders on employment matters, including terminations, investigations, performance management, contingent workforce, restructures, and reorganizations.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of global policies and procedures related to labor and employment law compliance.
  • Conduct global employment-related legal research and monitor and analyze changes in employment laws, regulations, and legal developments globally to ensure company policies and procedures remain compliant.
  • Create and maintain employment-related documents (e.g., offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements) and ensure version control, accurate records and revision approvals.
  • Provide assistance on special projects, which may include confidential projects such as M&A initiatives, restructures, and corporate reorganizations.
  • Proactively assist in the development and implementation of innovative ideas and solutions to improve employment legal and HR processes and procedures.
  • Support workplace investigations including document collection, interview scheduling, and report preparation.
  • Manage and track employment-related lawsuits, charges, claims, and concerns from inception to resolution, including coordinating with internal and external counsel.

Administrative and Operational Support

  • Prepare presentations, summaries, training materials, and legal documents for review and use by attorneys, as requested.
  • Manage internal document organization and calendar management for global employment law team.
  • Provide general operational and administrative support to Global Employment Legal team, including calendaring, creating agendas, note taking, and billing and invoice management

We are looking for people who:

  • Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree with paralegal experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of employment law paralegal experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; proactive ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research methods and tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR practices and expertise in employment laws.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team of attorneys, outside counsel and business partners.
  • Ability to provide strategic input and feedback. Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint

We are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
