Description |
This position is responsible for coordinating the identification, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to ensure compliance with RCRA, DOT, DEA, IATA, and NRC requirements. |
Job Details |
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Manages daily waste movements at site from process areas to proper drum/tote locations
- Performs routine sampling and assists with wastewater/stormwater management
- Unloads incoming bulk raw materials in tankers
- Ensures proper housekeeping of all areas
- Maintains an accurate daily inventory of all on-site waste and keeps detailed records
- Assists EHS team with managing waste inventory to stay compliant with all federal and state permits, licenses, and regulations
- Manages shipments of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste
- Performs various waste processing activities including elementary neutralization of key streams. Ensure proper determination of waste after processing
- Performs trials on various streams to limit quantity of hazardous waste
- Ensures profiles of new wastes are generated as part of new product introduction process
- Coordinates emergency spill response
- Contributes to Site/Corporate projects and initiatives
- Performs daily environmental rounds
- Participates as an active member of the Safety Committee
- Performs other related duties as assigned

- Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
- Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
- Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

- Active participation in continuous improvement activities
- Participates in problem-solving
- Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
- Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members
- Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- DOT RCRA training
- HazMat trained
- Waste Water Certification - preferred
- Stormwater Certification - preferred
- Knowledge of SPCC Plans - preferred
- Strong communication, organization, documentation skills, and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
- Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, working outside in all weather conditions, climbing ladders, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel are essential
- Maintains current RCRA, DOT, and HAZWOPER trainings
