Work Hours: Day Shift/Full Time - 7:00am - 3:30pm

Work Location: Saint Petersburg, FL

Position Summary:



  • The laboratory senior medical technologist must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Assists with coordination of testing to manage the patient experience.
  • Effectively communicates with physicians and clinical team, including community/referring physicians to ensure a timely exchange of information.
  • Coordinates process improvement by assisting with selecting and ordering results of testing performed by external reference laboratories to insure appropriate, timely and relevant service.
  • Assuring up-to-date information of referred laboratory testing is provided for accurate ordering practices.
  • Employees that are successful in this role possess strong communication skills, knowledgeable expertise in genetic evaluation.
  • Recognizes the clinical significance of each test performed and reports results within established time frames.
  • Actively supports the department's continuous quality improvement initiatives and customer service goals through modeling of appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.
  • Possesses high attention to detail and can be relied upon for dependable and consistent work output, while ensuring the reporting of quality results and completion of projects.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related science


Experience:



  • 5 years of experience as a technician or technologist
  • Ability to develop and implement projects
  • Ability to understand and react effectively to the age-specific needs unique to patients
  • Ability to perform and evaluate laboratory procedures in assigned area(s)
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to meet deadlines


Certification/Licensing:



  • Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License in the area(s) of responsibility from the State of Florida or Clinical Laboratory Technologist license to work in the assigned areas

Salary Range: Minimum 30.19/hour - Maximum 48.30/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
