Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Director for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under the broad guidance and direction of the A VP Renovation and Infrastructure Services, the incumbent directs and leads the activities of all heating, cooling, and power plants, including pressure vessels and cooling systems, as well as after-hours shift personnel for all Rutgers properties state-wide.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Directs and provides leadership for the day-to-day operations of the shift supervisors, plant operators, applicable preventative maintenance and repair mechanics, and plant chiefs.
  • Develops and implements schedules and staffing, and is responsible for the fiscal management in the areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures that all building systems and equipment monitored and or repaired under this purview comply with all State and Federal Department of Environmental Protection regulations and guidelines for compliant operation.
  • Assures customer satisfaction through problem resolution and provides quality, cost-effective services for all areas under his/her purview.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in a multi-faceted institutional or commercial setting.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Requires licensures and certifications for the systems in his/her purview or the ability to obtain the same.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, as well as knowledge and expertise in data management systems.
