Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (Phlebotomist II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and empathy during both routine and diagnostic laboratory visits. This position is responsible for collecting quality blood specimens, ensuring specimen integrity, and maintaining compliance with all safety and confidentiality standards. The PSR II demonstrates leadership, accuracy, and strong customer service skills while following established laboratory practices and procedures. Successful candidates may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other designated site as business needs dictate. Job Responsibilities
Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection duties accurately and efficiently under the supervision of the area supervisor
Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and safety standards
Verify patient demographic information and confirm accurate labeling in the patient's presence
Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection duties with confidence, maintaining professionalism and patient comfort
Maintain required records and documentation accurately and in compliance with company policies
Ensure a clean, safe, and professional environment at all times
Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a strong commitment to process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy
Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors to ensure exceptional service and teamwork
Provide coverage at multiple Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy locations as needed, often with short notice
Job Requirements
Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record required
Ability and willingness to travel between multiple work locations when needed
Strong decision-making and judgment skills, following established procedures and protocols
Commitment to company policies including dress code, employee health and safety, and Everyday Excellence guiding principles
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a high-volume environment
Demonstrated customer service focus with clear, professional, and transparent communication skills
Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry
Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned work location
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred
