The UC Irvine Department of Chemistry is one of four departments in the School of Physical Sciences. The department is proud to offer world-class education and training for our students. We train thousands of general education students each year in Chemistry fundamentals; prepare our undergraduate majors for careers in industry and/or graduate school; and mentor graduate students for independent research careers, teaching, or high-level industry positions. The Chemistry administrative team supports faculty, research staff, and students to enable them to push the frontiers of knowledge through cutting edge research. The Curriculum Planner is a key part of the Student Affairs Unit, a collaborative team in the Department of Chemistry that works together to find innovative solutions and practices to achieve goals and improve practices.


Your Role on the Team

The Department of Chemistry in the School of Physical Sciences at UCI is recruiting an Undergraduate Program Coordinator. This position, in consultation with department management, uses professional concepts in drafting department schedule for courses, seminars, and special events, taking into consideration faculty leaves, preferences, and faculty course load, classroom availability, and enrollment figures. Reviews schedule of classes to ensure it meets the needs of students for degree progression. Independently obtains classrooms for courses taking into account the requirements and restrictions of the Campus Scheduling Office. Works with undergraduate students taking Chemistry courses on enrollment matters. Oversees the Department of Chemistry front desk including staffing and scheduling of undergraduate student workers.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Interpersonal skills to work with department senior management, faculty, and students.
  • Ability in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends.
  • Ability to find solutions to conflicting situations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience Higher education

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Knowledge of department and school / college general and major course requirements.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $26.53- $31.13 (Hourly).
