DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a Senior Supervisor CLS, perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures in a section of the Department Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Other responsibilities include method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation and data entry. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed. On a daily basis, assess overall workload for any area that needs help and help coworkers without being reassigned by the supervisor. Work is assigned daily and reviewed by supervisory personnel or designee. All Clinical Laboratory Scientists may process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests that are within theirscope of licensure and for which they have been trained and deemed competent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from college with a major in a relevant field

  • Must have a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or appropriate sub-specialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health. Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

  • Must have two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.

  • Experience in a lab environment which may have possible exposure to biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • SBB (Specialist in Blood Banking, ASCP) certification
  • Experience with blood bank information systems (e.g. SoftBank)
  • Experience with Ortho Vision analyzer.
  • Experience with product modification workflows.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $111,625 - $111,625 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.46 - $53.46

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
