The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a Media Technician at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, the Media Technician supports a team of engineers who design, manufacture, and test innovative automotive mobility solutions.

Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide.

NATC's location in the great basin of Nevada allows our team to access terrain that can represent 85% of the world within a 150-mile radius, providing an excellent test bed for off-road mobility. NATC's operational area includes 1200 sq. miles of natural terrain, that when coupled with 6,200 acres of privately owned test courses, create an unparalleled testing area available to our engineers to innovate and solve our customer's problems. NATC has completed thousands of test programs as a one-stop shop for automotive development.

Position Summary:

The Media Technician works under the direct supervision of the Media Department Manager and supports the company's media documentation needs and the resulting edited products. The selected candidate will support the media editing and processing by maintaining and organizing media equipment and assets, assisting with field media documentation of test procedures and results, and coordinating equipment usage for staff. Responsibilities include downloading, editing, managing, and archiving media content; ensuring accurate and timely delivery of final media products in various formats for internal and external use. Additional responsibilities include; assist and support in the planning and conduct of media needs to support testing, maintenance of media documentation, historical data retrieval, video/photo capture for company presentations, media support for internal events, operation of support vehicles, and other duties as needed or assigned.

Essential Functions:



  1. Provide ongoing media recording and processing support to current design, test and evaluation activities.
  2. Coordinate with coworkers to plan and schedule media support based on project deadlines and priorities.
  3. Receive direction and/or requests from staff regarding captured media, and process accordingly.
  4. Maintain, store, and track media equipment on a daily basis.
  5. Demonstrate technical knowledge of media hardware and processing tools.
  6. Have familiarity with various media software processes and tools.
  7. Support media recording in the field as requested by project personnel.
  8. Download, compile, and transfer media.
  9. Review media data to identify content or events of interest based on the project objectives.
  10. Use editing equipment and software to condense the acquired media files into edited segments for use internally or externally.
  11. Archive and organize raw and processed media data for future retrieval (including Meta Data).
  12. Communicate frequently and efficiently with project engineers, program managers, and other support staff to align media department activities with current priorities.
  13. Work with test teams to assist with media equipment installations and media acquisition methods to satisfy specific project objectives.
  14. Support test conduct to support media capture requirements.
  15. Process and maintain files for media.

Secondary Functions:



  1. Perform basic repairs or replacements of media equipment.
  2. Operate company support vehicles.
  3. Provide video processing and editing support, may include photo editing.
  4. Support internal events with media capture.
  5. Perform review, export, and editing of historic test media documentation.
  6. Assist with other duties as assigned.


Pay:

$25-$27



Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent, with at least two years related experience or associate degree diploma in a technical and/or media-editing field.
  2. Previous experience with media editing or media technician experience.
  3. Media camera and/or still camera operation experience
  4. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with varied work shifts.
  5. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  6. Must be professional, personable, and able to relate well with employees and customers at all levels.
  7. Must be detail-oriented.
  8. Must possess strong computer skills including database entry, report generation skills and proficiency in the use of software listed below.
  9. Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
  10. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.
  11. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver's License.
  12. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, expressing ideas clearly and actively listening to thoughts and ideas of others.
  13. Must be able to use MS Office tools and Windows software.
  14. Must possess good skills in reading comprehension to follow written instructions and procedures effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with automotive testing industry or similar technical environment.
  2. General knowledge of mechanical systems and vehicle dynamics.
  3. Familiar with wireless media transmission and media teleconferencing.
  4. Familiar with high-speed media acquisition, post-processing, and motion tracking/analysis.
  5. Experience with analog media to digital conversion.
  6. Knowledge of media storage applications.
  7. General knowledge and experience with digital imaging and reproduction, including image file compression methods.
  8. Familiarity with cameras, camcorders, infrared cameras, and other remote/compact media equipment for onboard recording applications.
  9. Knowledge of synchronizing media data with other digital data streams.

Physical Demands:

This is primarily an office position, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, lift media equipment, open supplies and bend or stand as necessary. This position also requires walking on uneven ground and climbing stairs.

The position also involves the following work conditions:

  1. Perform tasks in the field in extreme temperature and/or environmental conditions for extended periods.
  2. Lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Climb onto, drive, work under, and maneuver around vehicles.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work hours may vary due to project needs.
