Job Summary

Plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power

Essential Functions

Provides technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after manufacturing.
Assembles electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Collaborates with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
Analyzes and interprets test information to resolve design-related problems.
Draws or modifies diagrams and writes engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.
Conducts inspections for quality control and assurance programs, reporting findings and recommendations.
May prepare project cost and work-time estimates.

Required Qualifications

Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to understand and follow directions. Design expertise. Mathematical skills. Electrical engineering.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
May need to stand for long periods of time.
Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
May be requested to work a different shift.
This position is Safety-Sensitive.
