Job Description:

The Manager Technical Operations Supply Chain Management (SCM) Strategic Sourcing leads a Team of Sr Analysts focused on managing high-impact supplier relationships that directly support Southwest's aircraft maintenance operations. This role oversees strategic sourcing initiatives such as repair service proposals, long-term contracts, surplus inventory sales, and subcontractor performance across areas like Aircraft Retirement, PMA, and Consignment. Manager must craft innovative strategies to maintain cost control and ensure service accountability. Success in this role requires the ability to communicate complex analysis, influence Sr Leaders across aerospace and airline industries, and present ideas with clarity and confidence. By setting departmental strategy, developing talent, and driving cross-functional collaboration, this Leader plays a critical role in sustaining Southwest's operational reliability and long-term success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage key internal and external relationships, including but not limited to supplier, Senior leaders and executive office
  • Identify contractual performance gaps and ensures appropriate action is taken
  • Develop comprehensive strategy to achieve best in practice Tech Ops Supply Chain goals established by Sr Director, Tech Ops SCM; supervises internal and external execution of strategy
  • Develop and monitor appropriate reporting and metrics to measure performance
  • Identify, develop, and cross-pollinate innovative Internal and External Tech Ops Strategies
  • Coordinate with analytical function to develop tools and products to leverage in Strategic Sourcing/Consignment/PMA/Other efforts (e.g. Aircraft Retirement, Retirement, Material Sales, PMA development, etc.)
  • Maintain strategic relationships with Internal Customer groups and other key internal departments (e.g. Tech Ops, Finance, Legal, Environmental, etc.)
  • Must be able to flex across organizations as a commercial and operations leader
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in Maintenance and Engineering, Material Surplus Operations, Contracts and Compliance, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of commercial and operational aviation operations
  • Strong understanding of data management
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in cost/benefit analysis
  • Ability to solve highly complex problems
  • Ability to Lead meetings and workshops from working level to executives
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in: Supply Chain Management, Contract negotiation and Engineering and aircraft maintenance operations
Licensing/Certification
  • N/A
Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
  • Frequent travel and extended work hours may be required

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from $128,350 per year to $142,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
