We're looking for a skilled and driven Telecom Infrastructure Engineer to join our global team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have deep experience in outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) infrastructure, and are passionate about building and supporting mission-critical telecom systems-this is your opportunity to make a global impact.

You'll be a key player in deploying and maintaining our global telecom infrastructure across IBX data centers, offices, and M&A projects. Your work will directly support our customers and internal teams, ensuring seamless connectivity and capacity for growth.

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with operational excellence and a collaborative mindset.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Lead outside plant vendor and project management, including RFPs for tie cables and custom IBID orders.
  • Own capacity planning and management for manholes, conduits, ducts, and fiber enclosures (FEs), including budgeting and project tracking.
  • Manage carrier relationships for dark fiber, including testing and troubleshooting using OTDR and OLTS tools.
  • Maintain and update underground diagrams (butterfly and dynamic charts) for campus, Metro Connect, and Fiber Connect infrastructure.
  • Oversee manhole, conduit, and duct assets both on and off Equinix properties.
  • Navigate public right-of-way and easement scenarios, including escalation paths and resolution strategies.
  • Serve as point-of-contact for carrier-owned pathways supporting long-haul and metro connectivity.
  • Track and manage IBID capacity, assignments, augments, and new deployments.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for fiber outages and characterize dark fiber for NSE readiness.
  • Coordinate and manage work visits in FE rooms and manholes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trusted third-party providers.
  • Submit and manage PO requests via SharePoint, including full RFP lifecycle.
  • Train technicians and support engineers on network products and infrastructure standards.
  • Travel to global sites as needed to support deployments and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of hands-on experience in OSP/ISP installations.
  • Strong understanding of fiber infrastructure, testing methodologies, and carrier coordination.
  • Experience with underground infrastructure mapping and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with public easement and right-of-way regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and vendors across global locations.

Preferred Certifications:


  • RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
  • RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager)
  • CFOS/T (Certified Fiber Optic Specialist/ Technician /Testing)

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - SV3 Silicon Valley : 139,000 - 209,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
