Job Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for all production, quality, production efficiency, employee performance, safety, and housekeeping of a given manufacturing department or departments at the San Antonio location.

A Day In The Life

  • Maintain a high standard of Safety.
  • Ability to lead a team and get results through others.
  • Ensure effective employee relations and provide employee mentorship / development.
  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and subject area.
  • Supervise and maintain attendance and hours worked records in E-time.
  • Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as hirings, evaluations, or promotions.
  • Ensure schedule alignment; department employees are present at the beginning of each shift and in accurate work areas.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Balance quality, efficiency, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Supervise departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to operations manager.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. Perform accident investigations; recommend actions to prevent reoccurrences of problems.
  • Confer with management and Human Resources to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Foster a culture of shared learning and cross-functional support.
  • Spend 80% of shift on the production floor.
  • Ability to plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Inventory management and production recording in SAP

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • 5+ years supervisory experience, manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated people management
  • Kaizen and/or Lean training helpful.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Bilingual very helpful Spanish/English
  • Ability to work weekends when needed
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
