Department:Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Department's Website: https://chemistry.uark.edu/ Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry to start in August 2026. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. Candidates in all areas of chemistry are encouraged to apply. Due to projected teaching needs, those working in areas of biochemistry or organic chemistry are particularly encouraged. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Chemistry, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment Evidence of, or a demonstrated potential for, exceptional teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level Evidence of, or a demonstrated potential for, external funded research and scholarly/creative activity Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and/or cross-campus collaborations Evidence of significant experience in a modern area of Chemistry Strong record of successful publication in the thematic and/or methodological areas of position focus Demonstrated ability to develop effective undergraduate and graduate classes that complement the current course catalog Demonstrated ability in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in independent research Strong evidence of the ability to be an active, involved, and collegial member of a collaborative faculty team both on campus and in relevant national service organizations Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Current knowledge in the area of chemistry that complements current strength of the department Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to develop external funded research Additional Information: About the Department: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of a thriving R1 research institution, offering a stimulating environment for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
