The college is governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a seven-member Board of Visitors and derives its support largely from student tuition and fees and legislative appropriations. Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:Oversee the Aerospace Technology Program under the supervision of the Dean of Technical and Professional Studies including day-to-day operations, budgets, scheduling, collaboration with main campus, coordination of student testing, FAA requirements for reporting, records, and visits, faculty support, communication with UA-PTC shared services offices, and teaching as needed to ensure full operations. Teaching may include a variety of aerospace subject areas including, but not limited to, aviation physics, basic electricity, technical math, aircraft engine overhaul, sheet metal, aircraft systems, avionics systems, fuel systems, auxiliary systems, turbine engines, lubrication systems, and propeller systems. Participate in ongoing curriculum development, implementation, assessment and evaluations. Promotes innovative teaching strategies to meet learning objectives as defined by federal aviation regulations. Plans and organizes lesson plans, reference materials, syllabi, technical and other aerospace specific training aids. Maintain professional competence and participate in professional development activities. Hold advisory committee meetings every fall and spring along with career fairs at Aerospace Technology. Performs other related tasks as assigned. Maintains an established schedule. Establish and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff. Candidates for this position must possess a thorough knowledge of the aerospace field, federal aviation regulations, have a commitment to high academic standards and a dedication to student success. Maintains student folders, advising, and awareness of trends and modernization of similar programs nationally. Attends conferences and actively recruits and markets program with UA-PTC marketing and recruiting offices. Ensure clear communication and collaboration with UA-PTC academic offices for process and procedures. Configure program to ensure opportunities for students to graduate with an AAS. Ensure students are prepared for the A & P licensure exam. Maintain high student success rates through a high-quality program. Collaborate with UA-PTC for non-credit or accelerated training for Air Force and Air Guard members. Adheres to UA-PTC policies and procedures. This is a full-time, on-site, 12-month position.
