The Electrical Trainee position requires an individual to be a highly motivated initiative-taker who is mechanically inclined, trainable, and is willing and committed to learn using a variety of training techniques. The goal is that the selected individual will successfully complete an industrial electrician training program within an established period determined. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Upon successful completion of the Maintenance Electrician Trainee program, the employee will must be able to perform the following:
- Understand and comply with company, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Troubleshoot electrical and control systems using multimeters, meggers, and other test equipment
- Disconnect, replace, and reconnect low and medium voltage motors using proper procedures
- Troubleshoot and maintain control circuits, motor starters, soft starts, DC drives, and VFDs
- Troubleshoot and maintain environmental monitoring equipment, including CEMs and kiln exit O2 analyzers
- Understand and utilize PLC ladder logic to assist in troubleshooting of plant equipment
- Install electrical wiring and conduit per NEC standards
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including inspections and calibrations.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Perform acetylene torch cutting, arc, and MIG welding (preferred).
- Ability to perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment
- Ensure that inventory parts are correctly charged from storeroom
- Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired, or replaced when necessary
- Possess the knowledge of the CMMS System (SAP) to ensure that work orders are entered and completed accurately
- Maintain and upgrade electrical skills and knowledge by participating in company-designated training
- Ability to operate a forklift, manlift, and maintenance machinery to perform plant maintenance as required
- Perform all tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must be able perform general mathematical computations
- Ability to detect potential problems through observation in the field
- Must have a telephone and be open to callouts
- Strong record of attendance reliability
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers
- Understand and observe all department and plant safety rules
- Understand the importance of good housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Good computer skills are highly desired.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
- Must be physically able to perform work assigned
- Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
- Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment
- The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds
