The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) invites applications and nominations for a faculty position at the assistant teaching professor level. We are seeking outstanding candidates who can add to our research and teaching strengths while inspiring the next generation of biomedical engineers.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
|
Teach undergraduate courses in experimental laboratory techniques, biomaterials, biomechanics, and/or other BME core courses.
Supervise senior design projects and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Assume a leadership role in designing curricula for undergraduate bioengineering courses.
Support the general teaching mission of the department through innovative pedagogy, curriculum development, and professional engagement.
Conduct research as appropriate.
Must be willing and able to contribute to Department, University, and external professional service activities.
Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
|
Earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely related field.
|
Required Experience
|
Teaching experience in undergraduate engineering courses.
|
Desirable Education and/or Experience
|
We desire applicants with face-to-face and online undergraduate teaching experience, teaching experience at the graduate level in their area of expertise, and an interest and ability to conduct research.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
Broad understanding of biomedical engineering undergraduate education including the ability to teach rigorous, engineering undergraduate courses.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
|
An interest and ability to conduct research in area of specialization.
Demonstrated success in working with people with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.

Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills
|

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands
|
The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. |
Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment
|
Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following four required pieces of training; additional training may be required by the department.
