Overview

Leads a team portfolio and oversees programs and cross-functional projects as part of portfolio. Shapes, coordinates, and drives execution of cross-departmental workstreams to support enterprise readiness, business optimization, and operational change. Supports the Director, Business Implementation in executing portfolio vision and getting buy-in to team scoped/led initiatives. Works under general direction

What You Will Do

  • Develops a strong understanding of VNS Health Plans strategic business objectives and business unit operations, Understands interactions and dependencies of neighboring processes and departments. Articulates business issues and designs approaches for long-term solutions.
  • Leads and manages the project managers and/or associates with the execution of all aspects of multiple projects including managing the staff, providing vision and strategic leadership, monitoring project schedules, and budgets, evaluating project quality, and directing the complete technical operations of the project.
  • Partners with management to define portfolio vision, determine how projects should be managed in portfolio, and conduct ongoing analysis on project(s)/portfolio health/success.
  • Serves as a portfolio lead with accountability for managing the scope, performance, and ROI of a set of interconnected initiatives.
  • Partners with management to continue to update and enhance portfolio playbook.
  • Partners with operational and functional leaders to identify transformation opportunities, define strategic pathways, and implement enabling solutions.
  • Directs the planning and execution at the project portfolio and work-streams.
  • Oversees project portfolio implementation and, as assigned, oversees the work of project teams to ensure the effective implementation and outcomes measures,
  • Monitors results against performance targets and meets with senior leadership to review findings and provide recommendations for improvement. Works with senior leadership and their project teams to develop corrective action and plans for implementation, if necessary.
  • Partners with management to communicate of desired business outcomes through proposal writing to business owners and functional leads, including guiding the development of project business cases and the tracking/monitoring of project business outcomes roadmap.
  • Develops analytical business cases, including economic modeling, scenario development, risks, trade-off evaluation, and prioritization decisions - tying to the right opportunities at the right time.
  • Assesses current project portfolio to prioritize and connect new objectives with existing work-streams. Foster engagement and commitment across the organization and third-party vendors or consultants.
  • Drives change management and program performance, understanding that all projects do not just end at the end date.
  • Champions the use of structured methodologies, leading in training efforts.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with VNS Health Plans senior leadership. Acts as a subject matter expert for projects and initiatives owned their portfolio.
  • Leads complex projects as part of portfolio including activities such as defining the scope, developing project plans, and ensuring forward momentum of stated goals. Identifies and responds to changing project circumstances and communicate issues holistically to project leadership.
  • Develops, implements, and provides ongoing management/oversight of more complex projects which typically impact more than one of the following: process, system, product, and/or function and may run a year in duration.
  • Defines core processes and maps for current initiatives and assists with improvement design. Provides facilitation support at meetings as needed. Develops trusting relationships with leadership team across departments.
  • Analyzes interdepartmental processes and IT platforms to assess operational harmony and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Plans, manages, and implements system, vendor, and process implementation projects to improve business outcomes.
  • Provides project oversight to delegated vendors as needed to ensure timely, accurate and efficient delivery of services.
  • Conducts research to define business requirements including functional, operational, and technical requirements
  • Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff development, evaluates staff performance, hires, promotes, and terminates staff if appropriate. Recommends salary actions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional Certification or working toward certification preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field of study required
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare project management, consulting, product implementation, business analysis, business transformation, and change management. This includes 1-3 years of data analytics experience used to enhance programs and inform strategic development, along with a minimum of three years working directly within a healthcare setting. required
  • Experience in implementing or extensively using the project management software like Asana or Monday.com required
  • Proficient in personal computer, preferably Microsoft Windows Word, PowerPoint, Excel (charts, pivot tables, advanced formulas) required
  • Experience with drawing conclusions or making recommendations through analytical & scientific scoping, or an adept understanding of operations required

Pay Range

USD $98,200.00 - USD $130,800.00 /Yr.
