Johns Hopkins Community Physicians seeks a Lab Tech Cert/Phlebotomist at our Remington practice in Baltimore, Maryland. The Lab Tech reports to Practice Administrator, Administrative Supervisor. Performs various phlebotomy techniques in the collection of blood specimens for Inpatients and/or Outpatients. Performs simple laboratory tests, records and reports results. Ensures the accuracy of all data entry and processed specimens. Responsible for initiating or verifying that the correct action is taken to resolve all specimen collection and specimen processing problems. Reviews lab requisitions and collects pertinent clinical and insurance information. This position requires that all candidates utilize their phlebotomy skills on a regular basis as required by their assigned work area. May perform data entry, processing of specimens, both for in-house and referrals; billing functions, and all pre-analytic set ups (may be required to process lab payments).

Shift: Non-Exempt - Full-time Dayshift 40 hour per week - Work 3 days per week at the Dundalk Practice & 2 days at Remington Practice

What You'll Need to be Successful:



  • High school diploma or equivalent including high school level course work in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.

  • To be eligible for ASCP-PBT certification you must complete a NAACLS approved phlebotomy program within the last five years, or completed a formal two part phlebotomy training program within the last five years (40 hours classroom and 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures), or be certified in another allied health profession (RN, LPN, MT, etc) which included formal phlebotomy training and completion of 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures.


  • Phlebotomy certification required. ASCP-PBT or equivalent.
  • Two to three years on-the-job or outside experience as a Phlebotomist. Certification required.


Salary Range: Minimum 17.82/hour - Maximum 29.43/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
