Description

The department of Procurement, Contracting and Payment Services is currently accepting applications for a Category Analyst. This role is remote but may be required to occasionally come to campus in Morgantown, WV, to attend or conduct meetings, attend training sessions, or as otherwise requested.

About the Opportunity

The primary role of the Category Analyst includes supporting and developing of strategic sourcing in the Construction Services category, assisting in execution of contracting for various construction and maintenance services, and ensuring that assigned contracts are properly managed and support stakeholder or Supplier requests. The Analyst will effectively partner with a Category Manager to ensure that the greatest value is realized for the Construction Services category. The Analyst will also provide other duties and functions as assigned or required.

What You'll Do

Support sourcing efforts for any assigned category / commodity areas:

  • Assists in sourcing efforts from stakeholder requests through contract execution, including assisting with public solicitations (RFx) when needed
  • Reviews and edits commercial construction documents (Contracts, RFPs, RFBs, Terms & Conditions, etc.)
  • Coordinates General Counsel review and approval for procurement contracts and agreements
  • Assists in negotiations to obtain most favorable terms with Suppliers
  • Supports Supplier evaluation and selection process
  • Assists in contract renewals and contract execution
  • Identifies and supports sourcing and procurement process improvement efforts
  • Correctly applies best practice processes
  • Analyzes, documents and creates category data as needed

Assist with development and execution of Supplier management:

  • Attends to and assists with Supplier issues and assists or oversees assigned Supplier relationships
  • Assists with the identification and implementation of process improvement efforts
  • Uses technology tools to continually measure savings and performance of Suppliers
  • Monitors Supplier contract expiration dates
  • Supports contract maintenance as appropriate in coordination with Category Manager

Manage Procurement operational support

  • Organizes stakeholder meetings to determine needs and identify Supplier and document issues
  • Assists with issues in Supplier invoice documentation, Supplier payment, Supplier registration, etc. by working cross-functionally with the appropriate department(s)
  • Processes construction related requisitions that feed from the eProcurement system, as needed
  • Supports Freedom of Information Act and other requests related to assigned categories and Suppliers
  • Identifies and implements operational improvements and cost savings by working with stakeholders and Suppliers
  • Builds/maintains positive business relationships with stakeholders and routinely works with mid and upper-level management
  • Assists with department strategic planning
  • Performs required position functions in a remote atmosphere
  • Performs other functions as assigned or required to meet the needs of the University
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
    • 0-6 months' experience involving procurement, supply chain or purchasing
    • 0-6 months' experience in a professional setting
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's major in Supply Chain Management, Business

    Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or other related area

  • Understanding of official/legal documents
  • CAPM, CPSM, and/or CPP certifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Effectively manage multiple and competing priorities, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to be creative, innovative and solve complex issues
  • Ability to understand, adhere to, and ensure correct application of University's Procurement Policy
  • Ability to openly and effectively communicate with suppliers, stakeholders, and leadership
  • Written communication skills
  • Work ethic necessary to perform in a remote environment
