Job Summary: |
Reporting to the Social Media Manager at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, the Social Media Specialist works collaboratively and strategically to help manage the social media presence for the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. The Social Media Specialist will develop social media content that supports the social media strategy for the CU Anschutz Medical Campus while helping to guide and execute the CU Anschutz social media content calendar for platforms such as, but not limited to, Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. The position includes strategic creation, curation and publishing of content as well as capturing the voice of the CU Anschutz brand in social post copy. In this position you will create, schedule and post social media content to the official campus social media channels, monitor and respond to social media commentary on behalf of the university and create original content for all social media platforms sharing the voice and impact of CU Anschutz with our digital audiences. Additional responsibilities include executing photography and videography. As a social media expert, you'll need to have a thorough understanding of the ever-changing social media landscape and how to adapt tactics rapidly, social media analytics, customer service, storytelling and digital multimedia. Key Responsibilities:
Works closely with the social media manager to help to manage university social presence and assures it aligns with the defined strategy and tone for each social media platform Creates audience-centered, meaningful and engaging social media content across all platforms Identifies emerging social media trends or features to implement or review with the social media manager Monitors external responses across various social media platforms, responding when appropriate Attends and promotes some on-campus events, possessing the ability to shoot high-quality photo and video to highlight on social media Maintains a list of CU Anschutz-affiliated accounts, identifying and communicating with account managers as needed Engages in creative brainstorming sessions during social media meetings to provide content inspiration, insights and trends

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of two (2) days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings. |

Qualifications: |
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Two (2) years of professional level experience, which includes at least one (1) year of experience managing and executing social medial for a professional organization.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field 2-3 years of professional experience in the field of social media, including paid and organic Experience executing social media strategy in a professional or business environment Demonstrated experience to write dynamically for new media that captures attention and interest, harnessing the voice of our campus Experiencing producing engaging video content for social media using best practices Prior experience in healthcare communications, public health, or academic medicine is desired

Knowledge of social platforms, specifically Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, and ability to leverage current and future trends Excellent written communication skills, short-form creative writing skills, copy editing, and proofreading Ability to identify and tell a story both with written word and through visuals Demonstrated problem solver Adaptable self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively with team members Ability to create visuals using Canva and leveraging the features within social platforms Ability to interpret social media analytics and identify opportunities to leverage or adapt to increase awareness and engagement Able to manage diverse workload; skilled at handling multiple priorities in a shifting social media landscape Creative and critical thinker with a constant desire to learn Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when needed to address emergencies

Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $54,254 - $65,000. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
