Chief of Staff, Risk Engineering, Associate

The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm. The Risk Engineering team is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and proactive Chief of Staff to support Risk Engineering. Reporting to the Risk Engineering COO, the Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted partner, ensuring operational excellence, strategic alignment, and efficient execution across key initiatives. The ideal candidate blends operating rigor with technical and functional knowledge, is comfortable working at executive altitude and operational depth, and can turn strategy into measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Budgeting:


  • Coordinate the overall Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) process for Risk Engineering
  • Build zero-based and driver-based budgets; track variances and re-forecast periodically.

Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition:


  • Lead headcount planning, sourcing channel mix (FTE vs. contingent vs. vendors), and location strategy.
  • Provide cross-coverage for consultant tracking and onboarding
  • Coordinate across Risk Engineering for Campus recruiting, training, and project assignments
  • Partner with HCM to manage full-time open role requisitions, tracking progress from role approval to employee onboarding

Operational Oversight & Compliance:


  • Ensure oversight and sign-off of Risk Engineering business continuity plans
  • Identify areas for improvement in administrative processes and implement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:


  • Develop various presentations that arise throughout the year, ensuring clear and concise communication
  • Coordinate and manage monthly meetings with senior leadership; identify topics, consolidate, and review materials
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among executives, teams, and departments, ensuring alignment and collaboration


Strategic Partnership:


  • Partner directly with senior leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives, managing timelines and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency, driving their implementation across Risk Engineering

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in a business management, operations, or project management role, ideally supporting senior executives
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of deriving insights from various data sets, particularly in financial and operational metrics
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of preparing presentations, reports, and executive-level briefings
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and initiatives, ensuring timely completion and desired outcomes
  • Impeccable judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and foster collaboration across various teams and departments
  • Proficiency with productivity tools and financial management software: Jira, portfolio/roadmap tools, OKR systems, financial planning models (Excel/Sheets), and collaboration suites.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus
