Posting Summary |
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Director of Clinical Services. Under the general direction and leadership of the Director of Counseling Center, this position provides oversight and coordination for all clinical functions in campus-wide mental health service.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Develops and coordinates all clinical services and training within the Counseling Center
- Provides triage, crisis intervention, individual and group treatment
- Develops and implements clinical practices and procedures that are consistent with the mission of the counseling center: to serve students and advocate for collegiate mental health, ensuring adherence to best practices and evidence-informed care
- Along with the Director, studies the organization and develops policies and procedures for providing and growing the comprehensive mental health and preventative services for Rutgers University-Newark students including outreach and prevention, intervention, crisis service, group and individual treatment and referral
- Supervises the work of all members of the clinical team in their clinical service job functions

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Doctorate in counseling, clinical, or professional psychology (or equivalent field).
- Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in a leadership or managerial role with increasing responsibility supervising patient care.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Licensure in the State of New Jersey as a counseling psychologist, or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist, Counselor, Social Worker, or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Experience providing triage, crisis intervention, and supportive psychotherapy to patients individually and in groups.
- Experience providing time-limited clinical interventions.
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
- Experience designing and conducting workshops.
- Experience developing research designs, analyzing data, and writing reports.
- Skilled in planning, organizing, integrating information, making decisions, and achieving results.
- Ability to physically assist clients.
- Ability to work strategically to balance high service demand with provision of quality care.
- Demonstrated ability in time management, multitasking, and administrative efficiency.
- Strong clinical and communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy.
- Educational background and clinical interest in working within diverse, multidisciplinary settings treating a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, adjustment disorders, personality disorders, and trauma.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in a university counseling center and/or working with young adults.
- Clinical expertise in trauma-informed care, multicultural competence, LGBTQ mental health, addictions, or time-limited treatment models.
- Proven success working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team.

Titanium, Uwill or other web-based Mental Health programs. |
Physical Demands and Work Environment |
May need to work late nights or weekends for specific programs and campus initiatives at the request of the supervisor or Student Affairs leadership. |
