The Clinical Education Coordinator delivers education for clinical staff in collaboration with teams to assess needs and support learning. The role implements education strategies developed by unit leadership by updating training materials, orienting preceptors, providing direct instruction, supporting team member onboarding, and ensuring alignment with clinical guidelines. The coordinator also supports departmental initiatives, participates in committees, and tracks education outcomes. This position works closely with Clinical Education Specialists and reports to the unit Director.
The Level 8 Inpatient Medical Unit is a dynamic 48-bed general medical unit serving a wide variety of patient populations from birth to early adulthood. We specialize clinically in the areas of digestive health, renal disorders, infectious diseases, behavioral health, endocrine and metabolic disorders, and immune deficiencies. These patient populations challenge us to exercise critical thinking, clinical decision making, and clinical judgement. This unit is expanding to 70-72 beds in 2026 and will support more of an infant population.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilizes policies, procedures, and clinical care guidelines to provide team member education.
- Collaborates with clinical education specialists, team leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to develop, provide, and evaluate team member education based on individual learning needs and barriers.
- Utilizes clinical expertise and best practices to provide recommendations on education resources.
- Coordinates departmental programming and onboarding of new team members by updating class curricula and teaching materials based on policy updates and best practices; orients and supports other team members to teach classes; supports scheduling of education; provides direct team member education.
- Facilitates inter-departmental communication through their participation on house-wide committees and in collaboration with colleagues on other units.
- Develops and delivers presentations and other material for use during department-related events and meetings.
- Participates in professional organizations focused on professional development, pediatric health, and/or assigned practice area.
- Maintains data systems to track interventions and outcomes related to team member education.
Shift: 40 hours per week, typically 4-5 days per week, with variable coverage to support days, nights, and occasional weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degrees
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
- Experience
- Two (2) years of clinical pediatric nursing experience is required.
- Precepting/nursing education experience preferred.
- Licenses & Certifications
- BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted) with at least 6 months remaining before expiration.
- Current Colorado RN License
- Achievement and maintenance of an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Magnet approved certification within six months of hire.
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $36.52 to $54.78
