Description

The Section Administrator will manage and perform
administrative services while overseeing the full general operations of the
financial and purchasing team. Responsibilities include finance, long and short
range strategic planning, and directing all activities of multi-disciplinary
departments through subordinate management staff. The Administrator provides
direct supervision to professional or skilled technical employees, serves as an
advisor to the unit and administration, and analyzes and resolves problems
while interpreting policies such as fiscal management, contracts and grants,
and resource management. They demonstrate solid subject matter knowledge,
exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine
appropriate action, and supervise staff to ensure accountability and
stewardship of departmental resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance
with departmental goals and objectives.

Annual Salary Range: $86,400.00 - $184,800.00

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA, Health Care Administration, Public
    health or related field) and/or equivalent combination of education and
    experience
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible
    managerial experience including financial and budget preparation
  • Minimum three years of supervisory and leader experience,
    over a small to medium basic science/clinical department or service line
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning and change
    management skills in a complex environment, preferably a research-intensive
    medical school/health system
  • Ability to demonstrate a moderate level of diplomacy in
    persuading and influencing a wide variety of people at various levels to
    achieve results
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze all pertinent
    information/data to make and communicate recommendations and decisions
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability as a partner to establish a culture of
    integrity and accountability
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis and decision
    support as it pertains to academic health care, research and higher education
  • Demonstrated skills as a receptive listener, influential
    and persuasive and seeks to understand the differing sides of each situation.
    Makes decisions effectively and decisively
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends and
    regulatory requirements
  • Strong written skills to prepare accurate, concise, and
    clear reports and documents
  • Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work
    effectively with Universitywide and campus-wide Administrators, Deans,
    Department Chair, faculty and staff
  • Advanced expertise using computer software such as
    Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, database management and timekeeping software
  • Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high
    level of confidentiality
