Provides oversight and manages retail and business operations related to sales and service delivery. Develops key partnerships inside and outside the organization. Forecasts product sales and inventory needs and manages accordingly. Manages data, troubleshoots, and ensures integration among complex systems. Manages staff. Meets or exceeds sales goals and identifies business opportunities. Stays abreast of industry developments. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Manages sales and production processes of Boys Town Press products.
  • Manages sales and service functions of BT Press.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies and plans to meet revenue goals.
  • Develops and monitors budget for production and advertising/sales-related expenses.
  • Establishes distribution channels for BT Press products to outside distributors such as wholesalers, cataloguers, and retailers.
  • Builds, maintains, and manages relationships with key vendors, partners, customers, and accounts for growth and retention.
  • Collaborates internally and externally to support marketing and sales goals.
  • Negotiates discounts, contracts, and letters of agreement.
  • Forecasts product sales and inventory needs; Measures and analyzes product performance and uses data to manage inventory and product marketing investments.
  • Monitors and evaluates sales through all sales channels.
  • Develops multi-media and multi-platform launch plan for products.
  • Manages the creation and distribution of product catalogs.
  • Regularly meets with authors to advise on product marketing and sales efforts and guide collaborative opportunities.
  • Manages BT Press representation at conferences.
  • Coaches and advises team members related to product sales, marketing, metadata, and operations.
  • Identifies and negotiates with other publishers to acquire products for reselling through BT Press channels.
  • Analyzes market trends and competitor activities; Stays abreast of industry developments and makes recommendations on new technologies, advertising/sales methodologies, and partnerships.
Supervises BT Press staff and manages business operations.
  • Recruits, hires, onboards, and supervises customer service and operational staff.
  • Coaches and develops a team of professionals.
  • Ensures orders and customer needs are serviced timely and accurately.
  • Develops business processes and efficiencies across complex systems.
  • Creates and monitors BT Press policies and procedures for order taking, returns, inventory control, account receivables, past due accounts, author royalties, and reporting, and makes changes as needed.
  • Manages, analyzes, and reports data across complex systems; leverages data for decision-making.
  • Troubleshoots technical or customer issues and ensures high quality resolution.
  • Collaborates and influences across Boys Town functions and departments to ensure production timelines are met, inventory is managed, and orders are fulfilled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of principles of business management and organization, principles of retail sales management, and principles of customer service.
  • Ability to set and execute strategy for ecommerce and retail sales.
  • Highly proficient in databases and computer systems.
  • Ability to interpret, integrate, and analyze data from multiple sources; to resolve discrepancies; and to leverage data for decision-making.
  • Proven ability to research and assess market trends.
  • Ability to forecast and analyze product performance.
  • Ability to plan and determine inventory needs 12-14 months in advance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Highly goal-oriented.
  • High attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong ability to build and nurture strategic business relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate internally across departments and functions, and externally with partners and vendors.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to encourage employees to motivate employees to produce results and attain company goals and sales targets.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
