Operations Specialist I

What the day will look like
  • Review and correct policy applications to meet insurance carrier's rules and guidelines. Work with the enrollers and carriers to issue policies in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Correct applications within 3 days of receipt against carrier's rules, rates and sample application for completeness and accuracy with timely submissions to meet Sales Rep payroll schedule.
  • Connect with case manager on quality of applications during enrollment period and check for missing information before returning applications to the case manager.
  • Write letters for missing and /or additional information and forms using standardized formatted letter if information was not obtained while case was ongoing. Document action taken in policy notes. Diary and follow up for quality assurance before final transmittal of business to insurance carrier within guideline requirements.
  • Cancel applications when a request for cancel is received before the first deduction report is generated and prior to final transmittal. Work with Premium Administration regarding cancellations.
  • Run transmittal reports, rate check reports and check against policy applications. Run census check to make sure information required by account to start deduction is accurate. Run reports to compare and complete deduction authorizations.
  • Perform additional review and follow up until all necessary data is complete for policy issuance.
  • Complete accurate transmittal of policy applications to the insurance carriers in a timely manner.
  • Work with the insurance carriers to ensure policies are issued efficiently. Research to verify rates and coverage before going back to carriers. Advise the Insured's in writing and the Premium Administration team of the closing of applications that are declined and closed for outstanding requirements.
  • Keep updated manuals of insurance carrier's templates, rates, sample applications and other material for correct applications.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Proven knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must be able to follow the prescribed client services processes with the highest level of professionalism and achieve specified levels of persistency and quality of production work with clients to meet precise deadlines.
  • Must have high level interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
Education: High School equivalency Physical Demand:

Physical demand is moderate paced although specific deadlines are required and must be met. Office work is performed while sitting the majority of time. This position requires an employee to use various office equipment, including PC, copier, telephone and fax machine.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range is $40,000 - $46,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
