Description

The Application and Installation Engineer supports the design, development, and implementation of CAT Power Systems products and related equipment by reviewing designs and installations for operational reliability, compliance, and quality. It provides technical and engineering support throughout the sales cycle, including troubleshooting engines, generators, and related components. The position also collaborates with vendors, customers, and internal teams to enhance product performance and ensure regulatory compliance.

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:



  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Reviews project specs, vendor submittals, and system designs to ensure compliance with customer requirements, CAT A&I guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Acts as a liaison between internal teams, vendors, and clients, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Identifies project risks and develops mitigation strategies to minimize exposure and maintain compliance.
  • Provides technical support during site evaluations, installation, testing, and validation.
  • Maintains project documentation, including technical specifications, reports, and design reviews.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities to enhance project management efficiency.
  • Supports customers and stakeholders with technical resources, guidance, and troubleshooting.
  • Travels to customer sites as needed for inspections, testing, audits, and compliance checks.
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and engineering principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and data visualization tools for reporting and project updates.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate across teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to improving processes.
  • Advanced skills required in problem solving, planning, organization, time management and analysis.
  • Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects, collaborating effectively with employees, team members, and management.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study required, or 4 years of experience with CAT Power Systems Products.
  • Experience with CAT Power Systems Products preferred.
  • CAT IPSD A&I Certification required within 6 months of employment.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None.


Travel:



  • Up to 30%, overnight travel required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder.


Work Environment:



  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoor conditions on jobsite.
  • Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
