General Responsibilities |
The Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students enrolled in the
CNA/
GNA program. This role involves teaching both classroom theory and clinical skills, preparing students for state certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing (
MBON), and fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success in the healthcare field.

Work Performed |
- Develop and deliver engaging curriculum aligned with state CNA/GNA (CNA/GNA) certification requirements.
- Teach classroom, lab, and clinical components of the CNA/GNA program.
- Utilize the learning management system (LMS), Canvas to facilitate online learning.
- Evaluate student performance through exams, practical assessments, and clinical evaluations.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and grading through Canvas.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing CNA/GNA education.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student learning and program development.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students pursuing careers in healthcare.
- Participate in professional development and maintain current licensure and certifications.

- Current Registered Nurse (RN).
- Must be in good standing with MBON with an active license and no disciplinary actions.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in long-term care preferred.
- Previous teaching or training experience is strongly preferred.
- Completion or readiness to complete the Train the Trainer course to be qualified to teach the CNA/GNA classes at Howard Community College.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching secondary education students, community college or in adult education setting.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and instructional technology.
- Bilingual abilities (if applicable to student population).
