GENERAL PURPOSE

This position acts as a liaison between our Asia Pacific office and our US operations, supports the new product introduction (NPI) process as the operational leader, and works cross-functionally to ensure projects and tasks are completed within quality, delivery and cost guidelines.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Coordinate with other departments to determine materials needed and schedules to be met; communicate commitment concerns to manager, Product Management and/or project team
  • Lead or help deploy projects for new business implementation, technology enhancements, migrations and process improvements
  • Process engineering change orders and communicate appropriately with vendors or Asia Pacific counterpart regarding revision changes and obsolescence of material
  • Lead projects involving global, cross-functional teams to ensure timelines and objectives are met
  • Ensure project deliverables are aligned with business objectives related to safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • Consistently communicate to internal stakeholders outlining status, risks, issues and action plans
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Assist sourcing group in identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities
  • Work with supply and demand planning teams to manage inventory during transitions in sourcing strategy
  • Recommend and assist in development of project management related processes and procedures
  • Maintain master data in ERP system
  • Place purchase orders, manage purchase order confirmations to support NPI and existing material qualification with new vendors
  • Learn lean six sigma tools and apply them to the phase gate process to drive efficiencies
  • Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non -compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience leading cross-functional projects in a global environment
  • Demonstrated ability working with minimal supervision and exercising judgment
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage to tight timelines
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong written, oral and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and leverage additional resources as needed
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs
  • Ability to manage several projects through completion at one time; while providing high attention to details
  • Developed problem analysis and problem solving skills
  • Intermediate computer and database skills with proficiency using the internet, Word, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system)
  • Continuous Improvement mindedness
  • Customer focused (internal and external)
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field, and a minimum of three (3) years' experience working in a project management function in an operational capacity; or combination of relevant education and experience

Special Job Requirements:

  • Requires frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but not required
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Understanding of sheet metal, aluminum extrusions, castings, plastic molding manufacturing techniques, tooling and assembly processes
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • General office environment
  • May require travel to other company facilities globally
