What You'll Do

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead all tax-related functions within our $500M AEC firm. This role is responsible for managing compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, coordinating with external tax partners, and identifying opportunities for tax planning and strategy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of tax laws affecting the AEC industry and government contractors, and will play a key role in enhancing the firm's financial performance through sound tax management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
  • Manage and facilitate tax audits and tax inquiries; preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
  • Collaborate with external tax accountants to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax reporting and filing requirements.
  • Manage the timely preparation and submission of all tax filings and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and evaluate tax incentives, credits, and strategies to reduce overall tax exposure and improve financial performance.
  • Stay up-to-date on tax legislation and regulatory changes relevant to the AEC industry and government contracting.
  • Provide guidance to internal finance and project teams on tax compliance and planning matters.
  • Manage and perform other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate by Accounting Leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in the AEC industry or with government contractors

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local tax regulations.
  • A deep understanding of tax laws affecting the AEC industry and government contractors.
  • Experience working with external tax consultants and auditors.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in global accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio)
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
