The Cytotechnologist Senior performs the duties of a technical trainer in the cytology laboratory. This job assists the supervisor in training, scheduling and assigning duties appropriate to each cytotechnologist, coordinating of quality control procedures, troubleshooting, maintenance of procedure manuals, training and documentation of method evaluations and inventory control in his/her primary areas of responsibility. This job performs In Situ Hybridization techniques; assists on deep Fine Needle aspiration (FNA) and Ultrasound GuidedFine needle Aspiration (US-FNA), examines cell samples and makes primary diagnoses on all cases (GYN, Non-gyn and FNA, makes final diagnoses on normal limit GYN, preliminary diagnoses on abnormal GYN, all Non-gyn and FNA. This job must also demonstrate an ability to identify and solve problems with initiative and good judgment to reach quality decisions in leading the cytology staff in his/her primary areas of responsibility. This job will be responsible for placing orders for equipment and office supplies for Cytology, CDC and Surgical Pathology (if requested) and will act as the technical specialist maintaining a constant awareness of new technologies and evaluating tests offered for accuracy, precision and economy. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Certified as a Cytotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 6 months of employment into position Compensation Range $36.31 - $56.29Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors to include relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
