Medical Oncologist - Southern Cancer Center

Location: Baldwin County, AL (Foley and Thomas Hospital campuses)
Schedule: Full-Time

Southern Cancer Center, Baldwin County's only full-service cancer center offering both medical and radiation oncology under one roof, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Oncologist to join our multidisciplinary team. Our mission is to provide cutting-edge, patient-centered care through a collaborative and integrated approach.

Position Overview

The Medical Oncologist will diagnose and treat cancers and blood disorders, develop personalized treatment plans, and collaborate with a team of specialists to provide comprehensive care. This role includes participation in clinical trials, patient education, and ongoing support throughout the treatment journey.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with cancer and hematologic conditions
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, surgeons, pharmacists, genetic counselors, and support staff
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinical research initiatives
  • Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
  • Adhere to Southern Cancer Center's compliance standards and ethical guidelines

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with board certification (or eligibility) in Medical Oncology
  • Valid and unrestricted Alabama medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong clinical skills and commitment to evidence-based care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience with clinical trials and research preferred
