Description
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Designer 3 to be part of our Systems Planning Corporation (SPC), a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc. The Designer 3 will be involved with all aspects of CAD for support of civil engineering projects for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Business Sector.

Required skills include CAD, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, and team focus. The successful candidate may be able to work from any GAI office. The designer will work with a team of other designers to provide drawings, permits, and construction packages to energy clients.

Job Duties:



  • Prepare detailed design drawings and work with engineering and other CAD staff to complete jobs.
  • Create new drawings from templates or from scratch with title blocks and border drawing blocks.
  • Create and modify drawing blocks, borders, and title blocks
  • Provide direction for compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Advanced use of scaling with model and paper space.
  • Ability to use style and formatting in CAD software.
  • Advanced knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including the creation of Surfaces, Grading, Volumes, Corridors, Assemblies and Profiles.
  • Advanced knowledge of Transoft Auto TURN extension for AutoCAD
  • Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills.
  • Ensure drawings meet Client Standards
  • BIM experience preferred.

  • 8+ Years of Experience


Education



  • Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School orequivalent experience


Technical Responsibilities



  • Performs and guides others ondeliverables withfocus on adherence toCADstandards, software utilization and data management procedures; and ability to independently perform analyses


Project and Task Management



  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence todeadlines and scope


Management Responsibility



  • Focuses a significant effort tomentoring lower-level CAD Operators. Provides solutions tounique problems. Identifies deficiencies and supplies recommendations.
  • Given general instructions andworks independently with minimal supervision. Receives general review ofproject work


Communication Skills



  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Facilitates interaction among staff. Able to effectively coach and mentor lower-level CAD Staff. Interacts closely andeffectively with Project Team. Interacts and advises atregular project meetings
