Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm



What work will you perform?


As the Manager of Insurance Administration at Landstar, you'll lead a team that plays a critical role in supporting our network of independent owner-operators (BCOs) by managing their third-party insurance in accordance with our Independent Contractor Operating Agreement (ICOA). In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and streamlining insurance administration procedures, handling escalated inquiries, and ensuring regulatory compliance, including reviewing BMC-84 claims and FMCSA requirements. You'll also oversee key functions such as certificate of insurance requests, bond management, and data reporting for leadership.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Manage and lead a team responsible for facilitating, reviewing, and handling third party insurance for owner-operators as required by Landstar's Independent Contractor Operating Agreement (ICOA)
  • Develop and implement insurance administration procedures and best practices to drive department efficiency
  • Review all BMC-84 claims, ensuring accurate documentation, timely communication, and resolution in compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Develop, generate, and manage regular and ad hoc insurance reports for upper management
  • Work closely with internal departments in support of special requests related to certificates of insurance
  • Oversee the issuance, replacement, and maintenance of Landstar bonds
  • Handle and resolve escalated inquiries and concerns from owner operators, third party vendors, and Landstar agents
  • Prepare and conduct regular training sessions for agents, ensuring continued education surrounding Landstar's standard cargo coverage and High Value Trip Transit Insurance program
  • Define key performance indicators for the department (KPIs) to be tracked on a weekly/monthly basis


Minimum Experience and Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) in a related field from a two-year college or technical school, or 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Three years of insurance-related experience required


Preferred Experience and Qualifications:



  • Two years transportation specific experience

  • Confidence in public speaking
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to create and automate reports
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
