Job Description:

Dynamo Technologies LLC is seeking a highly skilled Splunk Security Officer to support the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Cybersecurity and Privacy Operations Center (CPOC). The CPOC safeguards USDA's mission-critical assets and information, securing the nation's diverse food, agriculture, rural, and natural resources programs. This role will be instrumental in monitoring, protecting, and enhancing USDA's cybersecurity posture through proactive threat detection, incident response, and continuous improvement of security operations.

Note: This is a temporary role intended to be from September 8, 2025 until approximately May 1, 2026

Duties/ Responsibilities



  • Dynamo is seeking a Logging / SIEM Program/Splunk Security Software Engineer to execute and support the implementation of a successful Cybersecurity program.
  • Serve as the security engineering subject matter expert responsible for the planning, designing, and architecting of a multi-technology cyber solution.
  • Investigate to determine root causes of security issues to perform troubleshooting and problem resolution to restore services.
  • Responsible for designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, deploying and maintaining. Splunk solutions, reporting, alerting and dashboards.
  • Creating production quality dashboards, reports and threshold alerting mechanisms.
  • Develop, present, and implement sound recommendations for remediation.
  • Provide guidance and support security activities while building relationships with key personnel.
  • Document and inform management with information about security information and event management.
  • Remote management and troubleshooting of workstations and servers.
  • Provide expert research and analysis in support of expanding programs and area of responsibility.
  • Assess information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.
  • Apply know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures.
  • Perform analysis of security features for system architectures.
  • Perform management and coordination tasks.
  • Provide agency with knowledge and guidance in following NIST, FISMA, Agency Information Security and Privacy, and Cloud Guidelines.


Required Skills/Abilities



  • At least 5 years of security experience, including at least 2 years directly engaged with security engineering activities.
  • Knowledge of various SIEM tools and log management technologies such as Splunk, Splunk ES, Syslog, LogRhythm, and ELK as well as the implementation of such technologies.
  • Experience in working with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience in analyzing various security logs.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Skills in collecting, indexing, and analyzing log data.
  • Experience in advanced dashboard creation and data manipulation.
  • Experience demonstrating strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for security information and event management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required


Nice to Have Skills



  • Knowledge of Information Security and Privacy guidelines and knowledge of NIST, FISMA
  • Security+ Certification
  • Understanding of Various Cloud Environments
  • Experience working with Docker Kubernetes service (preferably AKS/EKS)
  • Two years of federal security support experience
  • Experience with Cribl
  • Knowledge of SQL


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or 5 years' experience in lieu of a college degree.

Salary Range:

110-120k per year (pro-rated for temporary position)
