Machinist

The Opportunity:

Booz Allen is seeking an experienced Machinist to support the client's materiel readiness efforts. As a Machinist, you will perform precision machining operations to fabricate, repair, and modify mechanical components essential to operational readiness.

You'll operate various machine tools to produce parts meeting exact military specifications while supporting maintenance of Marine Corps ground equipment, weapons systems, and vehicles. Within a machine shop environment, you'll have an exposure to cutting fluids, oils, metal particles, and temperature variations due to equipment operation.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in machining with both conventional and CNC machine tools, and working in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CAM software, CNC programming, and various metals, alloys, and machining characteristics
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of military specifications and standards, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), metallurgy and heat treatment processes, and machining processes, cutting tools, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications, perform precision work and tool operation, read measurements and detect defects, detect machinery operation and safety signals, and perform material identification
  • Ability to produce machined parts meeting dimensional and surface finish requirements, maintain productivity standards while ensuring quality, complete work orders within established timeframes, demonstrate safe work practices with zero preventable accidents, maintain equipment in good working condition, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment of up to 50 pounds in performance of your duties regularly
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Completion of Trade School Formal Machining Program or Machining Trades Apprenticeship Program Courses

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with CAM software and CNC programming
  • Experience in the military, including the Marine Corps
  • Experience as a military or defense contractor
  • Knowledge of military specifications and standards
  • Possession of excellent welding and fabrication skills
  • Possession of excellent mathematical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills, to commit to quality when dealing with complex machining challenges
  • Forklift Operation Certification
  • Completion of Advanced Machining Courses, CNC Programming Training, or Quality Control Certification Program Courses

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
