Job Description

Respiratory Therapy Student - PRN
Location: UH Lakewood Department: Respiratory Therapy

Join our patient-focused team and gain valuable hands-on experience while completing your Respiratory Therapy education. Under the supervision of a credentialed Respiratory Therapist, you will administer respiratory treatments and tests, maintain equipment, and contribute to high-quality patient care across all age groups.

What You'll Do

  • Administer prescribed respiratory treatments and diagnostic tests

  • Perform cleaning and preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment

  • Document procedures and patient information accurately

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team

  • Provide care in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Currently enrolled in an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program

  • Completed at least the 1st semester of clinical rotations

  • Current Missouri education permit

  • Current CPR certification (required for continued employment)

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; assistance required for heavier loads

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of the human development process and ability to work with all ages

  • RRT credential must be obtained within six weeks of program graduation
