Job Overview

The Senior, Labor Strategy & Negotiations Manager is a key member of the Strategic Labor Initiatives Team, supporting the Labor Strategy Center of Expertise (COE) function. The position reports to the Labor Strategy & Negotiations Director and works closely with the Labor Strategy & Contract Management Team to ensure consistency in policies, processes, documentation, and overall support of the Labor Strategy COE. The manager also recommends process improvements for the COE and leads or assists with negotiations and special projects as needed.

What You Will Do



  • Attend and assist with union negotiations as needed, work with the Labor Strategy & Negotiations Director on key special projects.
  • Serve as chief negotiator on secondary contracts or act as second or third chair in contract negotiations.
  • Serve as a liaison to resolve disputes between leadership and collective bargaining members, when necessary, to prevent work stoppages or slowdowns.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of Store and Operations Leaders on Managing in a Union Environment.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with People Leaders and union representatives.
  • Support People Leaders, Associate Support, and others with contract interpretation and application as needed.
  • Manage pre- and post-negotiation workflow and other related duties for the team.
  • Manage strike preparation in collaboration with the Facility Operations Leader.
  • Gather, analyze, consolidate, and aggregate data to support collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration tracking, and other Labor Strategy activities.
  • Create advanced-level PowerPoint decks and Excel spreadsheets (including financial costing models) for training, tools, and processes.
  • Design and recommend implementation of new tools, processes, and systems to improve efficiency in Labor Strategy operations.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Labor Relations Expertise: Deep knowledge of collective bargaining processes, contract negotiation, grievance resolution, and union environment management.

Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to serve as lead or supporting negotiator in complex labor agreements.

Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop and maintain productive partnerships with People Leaders, union representatives, and cross-functional teams.

Conflict Resolution: Skilled at mediating disputes to prevent work stoppages or slowdowns.

Analytical Skills: Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize data to support negotiations, grievance tracking, and labor strategy initiatives.

Process Improvement: Experience designing and implementing tools, processes, and systems to increase operational efficiency.

Communication Skills: Practices open, continuous, and concise communication; capable of delivering clear, compelling presentations.

Leadership & Facilitation: Effective at leading cross-functional efforts, facilitating discussions, and aligning stakeholders.

Training & Development: Ability to create and deliver engaging onboarding, training, and development programs for leaders in a union environment.

Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (including financial costing models); proficient in other MS Office programs.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to align labor strategies with organizational goals.

Adaptability: Flexible in managing changing priorities and schedules based on business needs.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of direct experience.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
