Job Summary:

The Director, Website leads the strategic direction of all Society web properties, including nationalMSsociety.org and fundraising websites, and oversees the execution, performance, and continuous optimization of Society websites with responsibility for achieving web channel goals aligned with organizational priorities. The position leads a team of professionals and works in a matrixed capacity with interdepartmental and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure Society websites are powerful tools for engagement, storytelling, fundraising, advocacy, audience-focused programs, and empowerment by delivering accessible, audience-centric web experiences. This role demands strategic thinking, leadership, and expertise building best-in-class, mobile-first websites that increase traffic, audience engagement, and revenue generation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Society's web channel subject matter expert

  • Lead development and implementation of comprehensive strategic roadmaps for Society web properties aligned with organizational objectives, digital marketing goals, and user needs, including defining and prioritizing website content updates, features, functionality, and enhancements

  • Serve as lead supervisor of the web production and search engine optimization teams overseeing and prioritizing their project flow and workload

  • Lead collaborative planning and execution of web projects with interdepartmental teams and cross-functional stakeholders, which are designed to advance KPIs and other measures related to the Society's web channel goals

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of Society websites, ensuring accessibility (WCAG compliance) and usability across all platforms and devices; consistency of brand, voice, and messaging; adherence to the Society's brand, language, and style guide; and up-to-date terms of use, privacy, and cookie consent policies

  • Collaborate with other teams towards the optimization of web content, user flows, and donation pathways to support fundraising goals, including donor acquisition, retention, and lifetime value

  • Partner with interdepartmental, cross-functional, and external agency stakeholders to align web experiences with acquisition, engagement, and conversion strategies as well as operational and multi-channel marketing plans

  • Lead strategy, execution, performance, and optimization for web channel direct response donation campaigns

  • Lead the strategic direction and oversee execution of new Society websites or microsites

  • Lead implementation of testing, audience research, and funnel, search engine, and generative engine optimization strategies to improve activity flows, navigation, personalization, user experience, and website performance to increase engagement and conversions

  • Provide leadership to search engine optimization (SEO) team to help shape SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO) strategies to maximize organic visibility and discoverability of Society websites and support collaboration and resource allocation needed from content and technology teams to advance on-page, technical, and semantic SEO and GEO best practices

  • Work with cross-functional partners to advise on Society domain strategies and associated implementation

  • Define measures of success and use data and analytics tools to lead monitoring of website performance, user behavior, core web vitals, and other key metrics, and oversee reporting to use data-driven insights to optimize strategies, plans, tactics, and outcomes on an ongoing basis and in real-time to make adjustments to Society websites to maximize impact

  • Provide regular report-outs to marcomms leadership on web channel performance and present to other Society leaders as needed to help inform decision-making

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in web experience, UX/UI design, search engine and generative engine optimization, and digital marketing and fundraising; evolve Society approaches and practices as appropriate

  • Manage and mentor the web team by providing guidance, feedback, and support as well as lead professional development and performance management for all team members

What We're Looking For:

  • 6+ years of recent experience leading enterprise-level, direct response websites, including leadership roles with responsibility for managing a team, leading others in a matrix environment, and collaborating with external agency partners

  • Deep understanding of direct response website marketing and expertise leading development, execution, and optimization of web strategies that support integrated, multi-channel plans and campaigns with multi-million-dollar revenue goals

  • Proven track record of leading digital projects from strategy through launch to ongoing optimization

  • Demonstrated success driving audience growth, engagement, and revenue through web experiences

  • Familiarity with website technologies, architecture, accessibility, responsive design, UX/UI principles, and user research

  • Experience working closely with audience intelligence, UX/UI, engineering, data science, and product teams, helping to define and implement product strategies and roadmaps

  • Strong analytics skills with a keen ability to analyze web performance data and translate it into strategy and action plans

  • Audience development and subscription strategies experience strongly preferred

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members and partner with other stakeholders to achieve web channel goals

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, including experience giving presentations to executives

  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency with web content management systems (CMS); understanding of HTML/CSS/Java preferred

  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, Search Console, and Tag Manager, as well as SEO/GEO tools like SEMrush and Screaming Frog

  • Knowledge of Salesforce Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud Personalization, HubSpot, and DonorDrive

  • Needs to be curious and a student of direct response website marketing best practices

  • Remote - Flexible Location

  • Work is primarily performed remotely, however, when possible and necessary, teams meet in person to conduct the business of the organization and build team relationships.

Compensation | Benefits:

The estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. Final offers will be based on the candidate'sgeographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
