ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Duration: This assignment is anticipated to last 6 months

Compensation and Benefits: $26.53 - $31.13 per hour. Eligible for Mid-level Medical Benefits, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Location: Hybrid 1-2 days a week.

DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the incumbent is responsible for providing programmatic and academic advising to prospective and continuing students in the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology PhD Program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to student curriculum advising, coordinating admission to the graduate degree program including student outreach, student matriculation and graduation. Program liaison at both on and off-campus meetings. Work closely with the Program Director, Steering Committee and faculty committees on student affairs matters and programmatic issues. Responsible for processing all financial graduate student support and assist with financial analysis. Prepare written and electronic material about graduate program for university-wide and global distribution; maintain graduate student database; assist with designing, authoring and updating graduate student web page.

Applies professional Student Services concepts. Provides varied student services to students, faculty, and department / school / college management. Works on moderately complex issues. Receives assistance on more complex issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in curriculum administration to advise students on university/departmental program offerings, policy and procedures and curricular requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Interdisciplinary Bioinformatics Graduate Program degree, policies and procedures, and curricular requirements and ability to implement the program goals and objectives for the graduate.
  • Demonstrated experience working with various database systems such as StudentLink, ISIS, and retrieval of student data, or similar systems/programs.
  • Excellent time management and strong demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple, often conflicting, priorities with deadlines, constraints, and numerous interruptions, process a high volume of work while under pressure, and maintain a high level of accuracy. Demonstrated ability to successfully follow multiple tasks through to completion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Event planning (requesting quotes, working with hotels/ caterers, etc.),
  • Admissions (understanding basic terminology, timelines, importance of documentation, etc.
  • Student affairs/ advising (customer service, professional responses, looking up info and providing it), and grad funding.
  • Understanding of math (figuring out percentages, proration, debits vs credits, etc.).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • This is a hybrid position, one to two days a week.
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
