Overview
Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Instructional Designer for the Behavioral Research and Training Institute ( BRTI)- Children's System of Care Training and Technical Assistance within University Behavioral Health Care ( UBHC).

The primary purpose of the Instructional Designer is to assist in designing innovative educational programming, content/materials. Responsible for curriculum development. Effectively integrates instructional technologies into teaching and learning. Applies optimal methods of instructional design, while partnering with constituents/clients on the development of traditional and virtual learning products.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Utilizes educational and media technologies to design and create instructional products.
  • Designs innovative educational programming and content and effectively integrates instructional technologies into teaching and learning utilizing eLearning technologies and multimedia.
  • Interfaces with departments and programs in the development of educational content/materials including Computer-Based Training Modules.
  • Designs and develops innovative curricula using diverse learning theories, evidence-based instructional strategies, and educational technologies.
  • Analyzes and defines processes to enhance the implementation and successful adoption of educational technologies and media.
  • Works with BRTI-CSOC Training & Technical Assistance team to identify, implement, design, and measure student/client learning outcomes.
  • Builds effective relationships and networks with system partners/clients.
  • Acts as a point person for assigned projects related to implementation and delivery of web-based and on-demand learning.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or a related field plus three (3) years of demonstrated relevant professional experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of educational design and/or curriculum development experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies for traditional and virtual learning environments.

Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in any of the widely used Learning Management Systems and Adobe creative cloud suite.
  • Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, flexible, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Must possess outstanding communication skills, professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to customer service excellence.
