Salary:

FUCHS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this positionis $105,000 - $115,000 per year,plus incentives. However, actual pay will vary depending on a new hire's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity.

Position Overview:

Application Engineer - Basic Metals Segment The Application Engineer will oversee the application of new and in-service products used by our customers in the basic metals industry. The primary activities will be to plan field trials in conjunction with the Fuchs sales force and customers before product introduction, including setting trial protocols, measuring performance, and collecting data over the course of the trial period. The position will also include periodic measurement of product groups already in service and recommending improvements in product performance.

Key responsibilities include:



  • Evaluate new products for suitable performance during field trials.
  • Respond to technical service issues from existing customers utilizing existing products.
  • Write field reports that are clear and concise.
  • Interface directly with customers to better understand their needs and demonstrate the company's commitment to ongoing product development.
  • Identify market-driven needs for new product development.
  • Collaborate with the sales & product management team to create an environment for win-win partnership agreements to foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with target accounts.
  • Build productive relationships across the organization and contribute as needed to strategy development and project execution.
  • Serving as a Company expert in the respective product applications space
  • Delivering knowledge of the competitive landscape
  • Providing input for new product development projects with Product Managers and R&D
  • Interfacing directly with customers to better understand their needs and to gain product approvals
  • Contributing content for new product launch and product marketing activities
  • Providing sales support
  • Providing application know-how (product recommendations, business development assistance, technical problem solving,
  • product training to customers and company sales representatives)
  • Building productive relationships across the organization and contributing as needed for strategy development and project execution.
  • Supporting strategic business development efforts related to sales campaigns
  • Acting as a technical advisor and liaison to the lab
  • Travel
  • 70%-80% travel, mainly within the USA



Qualifications we are looking for:



  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Chemistry or Engineering is preferred, yet other degrees with demonstrated technical abilities will also be considered
  • At least three years of experience within the basic metals or lubricants industries
  • Working knowledge of basic metals facilities is an asset.
  • Knowledge of lubricant application, use, and maintenance in metal processing.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, make decisions with good judgment, think strategically to identify opportunities, and lead initiatives within a self-directed project team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
