What to Expect
As a Tesla Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment.You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime.Tesla's Equipment Maintenance is also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running.
What You'll Do
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
- Perform repairs on production-down equipment
- Operate and repair every cell on a Line
- Perform Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on more than one of these types of equipment: Electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, Mechanical systems, Conveyor Systems, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC and networks Robotics
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
- Log all work as performed and perform other tasks as instructed by management
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of experience in maintenance (production/manufacturing equipment) or equivalent training/education
- Ability to interpret mechanical assembly drawings, measure tolerances, and inspect parts accurately
- Advanced computer proficiency (job-specific applications) and ability to coach users
- Electrical expertise: Troubleshoot systems using schematics, voltmeters (AC/DC voltage), and deep knowledge of electrical hazards/requirements
- Proficiency in pneumatics (solenoid valves, actuators) and hydraulic systems, including schematic interpretation
- Proven problem-solving skills: Diagnose root causes of equipment errors and implement long-term solutions
- Strong command of the English language (written and verbal communication)
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, lift, reach and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap, fall protection harness, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
