What to Expect
We are seeking a highly skilled technician to introduce new parts and processes to the GFTX Cell Manufacturing lines. This person will be critical in executing qualification trials, solving technical issues, and launching new products as we continue to advance the Tesla 4680 ramp.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshooting equipment and processes by collaborating with engineering, quality and operations
- Prepare and test prototype parts and qualification cells
- Execute high volume manufacturing trials, including coordinating lineside support with the production teams, following parts through the floor, collecting data and providing feedback to engineers
- Collect, prep, and ship parts for specialized offsite testing
- Train production teams and define standard work instructions for new parts, systems or processes
- Manage and maintain 5S for NPI work areas and trial part inventory
- Own, update, and close JIRA tickets used to track tech activities
What You'll Bring
- Mechanical generalist with 3+ years of hands-on technical experience (engineering experience is a plus)
- Manufacturing experience in high volume production (quality background is a plus)
- Highly independent and able to solve technical problems with only high-level direction
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical instructions such as drawings, assembly manuals and verbal instructions
- Fluent in Excel and MS office applications (SQL, Python and JMP experience are a plus)
- Capable of navigating JIRA or comparable project/ticket tracking systems (scrum, dashboarding and scheduling skills are a plus)
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
